Introduction

This page covers online resources that UTokyo faculty staff members have shared with us. The online resources introduced here include materials created by UTokyo members and also external materials that UTokyo members found useful and worth sharing.
We would like to express our gratitude for their kind contributions.

In utelecon (this portal site), we provide useful information on online resources to enhance your online classes and activities. Please refer to the Effective Use of Online Resources page for more information.

  • This is All You Need to Teach a Class! Self-Study Package for Teachers [PowerPoint (Google Drive)](in Japanese) :

    • This is a collection of compact and easy-to-understand slide presentations. The topics included are “Setup of ECCS Cloud Email”, “Setup of Zoom”, “Using Zoom”, “Using ITC-LMS”, “Information Sharing Between Faculty Members Before Taking Classes”, and “Omnibus Lectures”.

    • This is an online lecture manual compiled by the Department of Urban Engineering, Graduate School of Engineering. This manual includes a series of slides showing the process of conducting online classes, from setting up a university account to giving a lecture using Zoom.

    • This is a comprehensive instructional document (40 pages) that carefully explains how to use Zoom, from installation to operation in the classroom, with many screenshots in a Mac environment.
  • Online Teaching and Learning in Psychology Profession [Website](in Japanese):

    • This article featured in iNEXT, a clinical psychology magazine published by Shimoyama Laboratory, explains how to use Zoom and, in particular, how to teach online classes in the field of clinical psychology.

    • This video explains how to create accessibility-conscious materials in PowerPoint and other applications.
  • Designing for Accessibility [PDF]

    • This poster raises accessibility awareness. In a simple format, it shows how to make services accessible by using different colors, fonts, and explanations, depending on individual access needs.

Board Writing and Handwriting in Online Classes

  • Whiteboard Tool for Board Writing [HTML]

    • This article introduces InkLecture, an infinitely scrollable electronic whiteboard. InkLecture is a software tool for board writing in online classes using tablet laptops and other display tablets.
  • How to Give a Handwritten Lecture by Laptop With a Smartphone and Document Camera [PDF](in Japanese)

    • This article explains how to use an A4-size paper as a substitute writing board and capture/stream real-time board writing on the paper with a document camera. It introduces specific tools to use and includes the actual streaming video.

    • This is an introduction to implementing “Hybrid Lecture Meetings”, a ‘new normal’ conference style in which participants can attend the same meeting both online and in person. The article describes in detail what kinds of equipment and systems were used to manage a 700-participant lecture meeting which included online lectures, online poster sessions, and poster judging.
