System Change for Spring 2021

UTokyo Account login service will begin on March 15 for Zoom and March 13 for Webex. Previous login methods will no longer be available.

To facilitate online teaching and simplify technical operation, it is attempted to unify existing login methods for UTokyo ICT systems into UTokyo Account (10-digit number) along with other necessary changes. This webpage provides information about the system changes. Updates are available anytime. Please check it out whenever necessary.

Zoom/Webex Made Accessible for UTokyo Account

For the use of web conferencing tools such as Zoom and Webex, ECCS cloud email (1234567890@g.ecc.u-tokyo.ac.jp) and its password were previously indispensable. This is however no longer necessary. Logging in with UTokyo Account is now possible.

Your current account (10 digits-ID) will be transferred to your UTokyo Account following the schedule below.

  • Zoom March 14, 2021, 22:00 - March 15, 2021, 6:00 (Scheduled)
  • Webex March 12, 2021, 20:00 - March 13, 2021, 0:00 (Scheduled)

New Sign-In Method for Zoom

After the transfer (scheduled on March 15, 6:00), for the use of UTokyo Zoom Account, please sign in by the following methods.

  • Sign in from the UTokyo Account Zoom Webpage(The Simpler Method)
    1. Access to the UTokyo Zoom webpage. https://u-tokyo-ac-jp.zoom.us/
    2. A page titled “UTokyo Zoom” will appear. Click the “Config” button.
    3. When a sign-in page which requires your UTokyo Account username and password (same as UTAS, the website with the picture of Yasuda Auditorium) appears, enter your UTokyo Account (10 digits-ID) information accordingly.
      • Not the ECCS Cloud Email (@g.ecc.u-tokyo.ac.jp).
      • Not with the existing Zoom password.
    4. When your Zoom profile page shows up, check that your “License Type” is set to “Licensed”, and “Meeting” to “300 participants”. If these show up, you have successfully signed in.
  • Sign in from the Zoom Sign-in Page (also applicable to the Zoom app)
    1. On the Zoom sign-in page, press “SSO”, or “Sign in with SSO”.
      • Signing in with UTokyo Accounts is unavailable with this page.
    2. Depending on the information shown, the sign-in method differs as follows.
      • If “Company Email” appears, enter your UTokyo ID (10 digits-ID) and then @utac.u-tokyo.ac.jp. An example will be: 1234567890@utac.u-tokyo.ac.jp.
      • If “Company Domain” appears, enter “u-tokyo-ac-jp”.
    3. When a sign-in page which requires your UTokyo Account username and password (same as UTAS, the website with the picture of Yasuda Auditorium) appears, enter your UTokyo Account (10 digits-ID) information accordingly.

If you encounter any problems, please contact Technical Support Desk.

Signing in with ECCS Cloud Email (the use of 1234567890@g.ecc.u-tokyo.ac.jp and existing Zoom password) will be terminated after the transfer. Please sign in with the new methods.

New Sign-In Method for Webex

After the transfer (scheduled on March 13, 0:00), for the use of UTokyo Webex Account, please sign in by the following methods.

  1. Click “Sign In” on the UTokyo Webex website to direct to the Webex sign-in page.
  2. Enter your UTokyo ID (10 digits-ID) and then@utac.u-tokyo.ac.jp. An example will be: 1234567890@utac.u-tokyo.ac.jp.
    • Not the ECCS cloud email (@g.ecc.u-tokyo.ac.jp).
  3. When a sign-in page which requires your UTokyo Account username and password (same as UTAS, the website with the picture of Yasuda Auditorium) appears, enter your UTokyo Account (10 digits-ID) information accordingly.
    • Not the ECCS cloud email (@g.ecc.u-tokyo.ac.jp).
    • Not with the previous password for Webex.

Implementation of Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) to UTokyo Account

To enhance data security, multi-factor authentication is to be introduced to UTokyo Accounts logins after April 2021. Once multi-factor authentication is set up, a phone/SNS verification code is required for login. Details will be announced on this page in due course.

Additional Information

  • ECCS Setting Page Relocated.
  • Application for UTokyo Microsoft License Made Unnecessary for the Use of Microsoft 365
    • The use of Microsoft services, such as downloading Office Suite and using its online tools, would no longer require prior application for UTokyo Microsoft License. Current users are not affected.
    • Exact date is to be announced in due course.

How to Create New Accounts after System Change

Guidelines on how to create an account in the new system is expected to be released in mid-February especially for new students and faculty members. Your patience is highly appreciated.
